QS Ranking, Politecnico di Milano is still among the top 20 universities in the world

It keeps its position among the best universities in Architecture, Design and Engineering

Politecnico di Milano is among the top 20 universities in the world in Architecture, Design and Engineering according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023, the global ranking of the best universities by subject area.

In Design and Architecture, the Politecnico keeps its position among the top 10 universities in the world, in 8th and 10th place respectively. As far as Engineering is concerned, the Politecnico is among the top 20 universities in the world, in 18th place, in a highly competitive international environment.

Compared with 2022, the Politecnico recorded important advances in the ranking in: Computer Science (+16); Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing (+6), Engineering - Electrical & Electronic (+1) Mathematics (+25), Material Sciences (+20), Environmental Sciences (+21), Physics & Astronomy (+29).

This result has been achieved mainly thanks to Politecnico's excellent reputation among employers and academics from all over the world; the Academic Reputation index, in particular, is the most relevant metric for the ranking (it makes up 40% of the final score) and is based on the evaluations of more than 150,000 academics.

Also noteworthy was the result obtained thanks to the new index introduced this year by QS: the IRN, which measures the level of international research collaboration.

In Italy, Politecnico di Milano remains the absolute frontrunner in Architecture and Design and in almost all engineering subjects (Computer Science and Information Systems; Chemical Engineering; Civil and Structural Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering; Mathematics, Materials Science, Environmental Sciences).

The world rankings are instruments that have taken on an important value in directing talents towards quality training courses and receptive contexts on a global level. Attractiveness is one of the key themes in Politecnico di Milano’s Strategic Plan for the next three years. For this reason, the University will draw on its already good positioning and will work to provide more study and research opportunities for young people, with particular attention to equal opportunities: key tools towards an inclusive approach also in an international perspective.
