Alberto Guadagnini has been honored with the Henry Darcy Medal by the EGU

He will receive the prize for his research on hydraulic systems during the 2024 EGU General Assembly

Alberto Guadagnini, professor of hydraulics at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano, will receive the Henry Darcy Medal by the European Geosciences Union (EGU), the leading organization for Earth, planetary and space science research in Europe.

The professor will be awarded during the 2024 EGU General Assembly, that will be held from 14 to 19 April, for his research works aimed at expanding the frontiers of our knowledge on flow and contaminant transport in groundwater systems and porous media. Research topics range from stochastic hydrology to multiphase flow and transport, water and energy resources in the subsurface, and reactive transport. Key aspects of the research include the development of innovative approaches to uncertainty analysis and quantification to provide robust environmental risk assessment.

This medal was established by the Hydrological Sciences Division of the EGU in recognition of the scientific achievements of Henry Darcy. It is awarded to individuals in recognition of their outstanding scientific contributions in water resources research and water resources engineering and management.
