“Prof. Emilio Gatti” Degree Prize awarded to Andrea Naggi

The prize rewards recent graduates in the field of measurement systems

The Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere awarded Andrea Naggi with the “Prof. Emilio Gatti” Prize 2022 for his Laurea Magistrale (MSc) degree thesis in Electronic Engineering, entitled "Fast opamp-based preamplifier for rad-hard detection systems", written in the academic year 2021/2022 at the Radiation Imaging Detectors Lab of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering under the supervision of Prof. Chiara Guazzoni.

The prize is awarded every two years by the Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere in memory of Emilio Gatti (1922-2016), an engineer known for his pioneering research in the field of electronic instrumentation for atomic and nuclear physics. Professor Gatti was for a long time a professor at the Politecnico di Milano, also holding institutional positions including Head of the Department of Physics (1958-1967), Vice Rector (1969-1971) and President of the Degree Programme Board for Electronic Engineering (1990- 1993).

The “Prof. Emilio Gatti” Prize is intended for recent graduates who have developed original measurement systems in a practical and/or theoretical field. Andrea Naggi's thesis deals with the development of frontend electronics for an innovative detection system for the real-time identification of fragments constituting high-luminosity radioactive beams, capable of working in areas with high levels of radiation.
