Double Master degree in Architecture

Thanks to the mobility agreement signed for the first time in 2011 between Politecnico di Milano and Tongji University College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Politecnico’s students enrolled in a Master of science of Architecture (apart from Landscape Architecture) can participate in a double degree programme during which they spend a year of study in Shanghai and obtain a Master in Architecture from the Chinese university. 

The double degree programme runs for two years and a half, during which students gain 60 credits in the partner institution attending courses, carrying out an internship and developing their thesis project. The program is at the same time a valuable opportunity to immerse oneself in the Chinese culture and foresees Chinese language classes.

The mobility scheme

1st and 2nd semester → Students attend courses for 60 credits at Politecnico
3rd and 4th semester → Students gain 60 credits at Tongji CAUP as follows: 2 studios (16 ECTS); 4 mandatory courses (26 ECTS); optional courses (8 ECTS); course of academic integrity (2 ECTS); thesis preparation and discussion (8ECTS).  

5th semester → Students pass exams for 30 credits, prepare and discuss their thesis. The exams are: Project Appraisal; Building Technology Studio + 3 optional courses. 

Requirements

In order to participate in the double degree programmes students need to:

1.       Hold a first level degree in Architecture

2.      Have gained 60 credits during the 1st year of Master Programme at Politecnico
