Transdisciplinary Units bring together and coordinate activities that relate to a specific theme or application and involve expertise from across a large number of departments. There are currently five Units:
Objectives - To develop practical tools to detect, characterise and quantify gender biases, both conscious and unconscious, and identify their short and long term consequences, in order to plan actions that can mitigate and, looking ahead, prevent them. To promote policies that lead to inclusive organisations and – more generally – help create an inclusive society.
Departments involved - DIG, DEIB, DESIGN, DABC, DASTU, DMAT
Contact - Mara Tanelli
Objectives - To contribute to the sustainability of agri-food systems by proposing innovative solutions to the problems affecting food production, distribution and consumption, through synergetic studies, development and experimentation. To tackle large environmental, social and economic challenges: food security, efficiency and circularity in the use of resources, reducing the negative impacts on health and the environment, and changes in consumer experiences.
Departments involved: DCMC, DEIB, DENG, DESIGN, DICA, DIG
Contact - Paola Garrone
Objectives - To develop an innovation accelerator for original multimodal imaging technologies that have a wide range of applications in life sciences, from basic biological studies to medical diagnosis and therapy/follow up (theranostics and personalised medicine).
Departments involved: DFIS, DCMC, DEIB, DMAT, DMEC, DENG, DICA
Contact - Dario Polli
Objectives - New approaches to spatial analysis, correlation of information and knowledge building. Data collection and analysis; visualisation and communication of complex phenomena that data analysis allows us to explore; analysis of production processes and management of complex data sets and the processes they derive from; analysis and management of complex socio-environmental phenomena; design and planning for/of spatial systems; creation and production of services that can be used in management; policy design; building and management of collaborative processes to build sustainable companies; design of governance strategies, plans and models.
Departments involved: DESIGN, DEIB, DASTU, DIG, DABC, DMAT
Contact - Paolo Carli
Objectives - The project focuses on the subject of network infrastructures (particularly digital networks and ICT, energy networks and transport networks) and aims to build an integrated system of competences that enable us to understand and analyse their characteristics, performance and impact in terms of technology, environment, society and management.
Departments involved: DIG, DASTU, DMEC, DESIGN, DABC, DEIB, DMAT, DENG
