Descrizione

Safepack is the first smart backpack designed for riders working in Gig economy delivery services. It is fully integrated into the work process and it improves user safety by reducing distracting factors and enhancing communication with other road users.

Safepack is made up of three systems:

  1. A tactile navigation system, inserted into the belt, that consists of piezoelectric actuators which vibrate in the direction of the next part of the route and of an inflating system that ensures fitting and that the vibration is correctly perceived.
  2. A Communication system based on a VUI (speaker and microphone): the rider can receive information from the platform, such as the recap of a new order (collection/delivery point, distance to travel, payment), accept or refuse it, and he can communicate delays or any emergencies.
  3. An automatic lighting system aimed at improving communication with other road users.

The light is generated by side-emitting optical fibers connected to a yellow LED for visibility lights, and red LEDs for brake and directional lights. Finally, Safepack communicates via Bluetooth with the platform app and with the navigation app. The VUI volume and the intensity of the vibration can be adjusted through a pressure sensor placed in the right shoulder strap.
