Physical exercise represents an important activity on many levels: it helps maintaining the body in a healthy condition, it allows the athlethes to improve their performances and, not least, it is a reabilitative practice which has a positive effect for different pathological conditions (due to traumas or permanent diseases). Nevertheless, an incorrect execution of the exercises can lead to injuries, worsening the physical condition.
The invention solves this problem by proposing a method for the automatic evaluation of the execution technique of a physical exercise, both calisthenics and with equipment. This evaluation is fulfilled through the measurement of inertial signals and their processing, by using one or more wearable systems (e.g. smartwatch). In this way, the identification of errors in the carrying out of the exercise allows to avoid the incurrence of injuries, even when there is no supervision by a personal trainer or a physisician. Moreover, a further approach allows the generation of an exercise-specific personal reference for each exercise with which it is possible to compare the performance.
