Humboldt Research Award 2026 to Alberto Guadagnini

The prestigious Humboldt Research Award 2026 has been awarded to Professor Alberto Guadagnini, a faculty member of Hydraulics at Politecnico di Milano.

The award, granted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, honors internationally leading scholars whose theories or contributions have had a significant impact in their respective research fields.

Prof. Guadagnini’s research focuses on groundwater hydrology and environmental fluid mechanics, with emphasis on uncertainty quantification and modeling of subsurface processes. As the awardee, he will carry out research projects in collaboration with colleagues in his field in Germany, further strengthening international scientific cooperation and advancing research in hydrogeology and water resources management.

Alberto Guadagnini is a Full Professor of Hydraulic Engineering and Vice Rector for Research at Politecnico di Milano, where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and obtained his PhD in Hydraulic Engineering. He has also served as Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
