Description of the initiative
The international entrepreneurship program for students - YOUTH FOR INNOVATION (YFI) - is promoted by WSA, a unique awards system, selecting and promoting local digital innovation to improve society. Combining an ongoing series of international events and activities with a global network of start-ups, social entrepreneurs, mentors, jurors, speakers, experts, government leaders, academia and civil society, WSA is an international platform for cutting edge examples of how ICTs can impact society in a positive way.
In YFI students from multiple Universities collaboratively analyse purpose-driven tech ventures from across the world. These ventures use digital solutions to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
YOUTH FOR INNOVATION enables creative students to:
- apply their skills and knowledge on successful tech ventures on the market;
- analyse, consult and exchange with purpose-driven tech ventures worldwide;
- collaborate internationally and interdisciplinary;
- gain intercultural competences;
- pitch their work in front of an international jury;
- grow an international network.
In YOUTH FOR INNOVATION students will join a team and select a challenge with one of the WSA winners to analyse their enterprises, consult them on real business challenges and propose ideas of solutions. For 6 weeks the teams will work virtually and independently in interdisciplinary teams and will present their ideas to the jury in an online pitch.
The final submission (Pitch presentation, pitch deck and report) will be evaluated by the jury who will award the best 3 teams. The students are also encouraged to join online webinars to gain complementary skills.
The online pitches, written reports and overall student team works will be evaluated by the student team leads (university representatives), challenge hosts and WSA expert jury. Based on the evaluations the best 3 student teams receive a reward.
