Description of the initiative
Promoted by the MinD Mad in Design Association (www.madindesign.com), in collaboration with Italian universities and with the contribution of the Compagnia di San Paolo, MinD is a workshop on the theme of living for the mentally frail dedicated to students, university students, social and health workers and users followed by mental health services. It is an inclusive and multidisciplinary design experience in which students of Design, Architecture, Educational Sciences, Psychology, Anthropology, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Technicians can participate.
The students will work in teams led by professional designers with different backgrounds and experience in three metropolitan areas of the city of Turin within the Aurora and Barriera districts.
The theme of workshop 2021 is PROXIMITY, understood as an urban and social dimension characterised by the condition of being physically close in space but also by the common awareness of sharing something (relationships, objects, services, spaces) with other people.
In the light of the pandemic experience, the condition of proximity can be interpreted as a factor capable of triggering dynamics of social inclusion and reintegration, with particular attention to people with mental fragility, who are still today victims of deep-rooted prejudices and stigmas.
