Description of the initiative

The course is realized jointly by Polimi and Google, and aims to develop a culture of creativity and innovation using methodologies and techniques developed in Google and are part of the everyday work activities. Students will be briefed real problems, and will be asked to design new solutions, stressing their creative skills.
Lecture 1: Google culture of innovation - How to create an environment where innovation happens by default and not by exception.
Lecture 2: Conceptual blockbusting - How to identify those blocks that hinder mental creativity or conceptualization: mental walls that block the problem-solver from correctly perceiving a problem or conceiving its solution.
Lecture 3: MAChINE Sprint: theory - MAChINE Sprint is a proprietary methodology developed by Google's creative team, ZOO, and it applies design thinking to the creative process. It is a faster way to creatively solve critical business problems by rapid prototyping and user testing .
Lecture 4: MAChINE Sprint: problem definition - 10 real challenges in shape of 10 briefs. These are identified and written with the help of Polimi professors and presented to students. Every group (20 students + 1 tutor) will apply the MAChINE Sprints process to solve the brief.
Home project - every group work together on the problem - tutor available via email
Final presentation - each group will present back the output of the MAChINE Sprint working session and feedback on the overall method and approach.
