Description of the initiative

The Summer School was born from an initiative of the teachers of "Topography and data analysis" and "Positioning and Control Techniques" who wanted to offer their students the opportunity to carry out "in the field" an important activity for the control of the territory. For some years now, the Summer School has been taking place at the Belvedere Glacier (Macugnaga - VCO) and involves students in 3 different activities:
  • Survey of about fifty points materialized on the glacier and on the moraines, for the purpose of calculating the glacier velocity
  • Photogrammetric survey of the glacier with drone
  • Laser scanner survey of the end of the west end of the Glacier
The last 2 days of the Summer School will be dedicated to data processing and analysis.

La Summer School si svolgerà per i primi 3 giorni c/o il Ghiacciaio del Belvedere (Macugnaga, VCO) e coinvolgerà gli studenti in 3 differenti attività (svolte a gruppi di interesse):

  • Rilievo di una cinquantina di punti materializzati sul ghiacciaio e sulle morene, al fine del calcolo delle velocità
  • Rilievo fotogrammetrico del Ghiacciaio con drone
  • Rilievo laser scanner della parte terminale della lingua ovest del Ghiacciaio

Gli ultimi 2 giorni della Summer School saranno dedicati all'elaborazione dei dati e alla loro analisi c/o il Politecnico
