Description of the initiative
The initiative aims to present the role of computer science in emergency management support systems.
Some techniques for extracting and locating information from social media and the role of crowdsourcing initiatives to provide images and videos to support rapid mapping activities will be presented and discussed.
The planned format is a workshop with an initial general presentation (3 hrs), the presentation of some tools (3hrs) and the use of tools produced within the European E2mC project ( www.e2mc.eu ) (3hrs). Additional 16 hrs of self-study activities will be requested.
