Description of the initiative
The objective of the course is to train a generation of quantum-computing aware (aerospace) engineers who can then mature this type of expertise in the years of the Master Degree putting it to use in the courses, or exploiting it during the thesis or a possible PhD.
The course takes place over two semesters. A substantial part of the first semester will be devoted to the physical-mathematical foundations, covering aspects that would complement the student's preparation by introducing two important topics such as Functional Analysis and Quantum Mechanics. The main algorithms and applications will be treated mainly in the second part.
The course includes lessons of two hours per week, in the late afternoon.
There is no final exam, the activity will be considered passed with the attendance of at least 80% of the scheduled hours.
Course Content:
1. Introduction to Functional Analysis;
2. Introduction to Quantum Mechanics;
3. Recalls of linear algebra;
4. Principles of operation of quantum computers: from qbits to gates
5. Introduction to programming in Python and Qiskit.
6. The main algorithms
