This course aims to teach the basics of Python programming. We will cover the basics of how to build a program from a series of simple Python instructions. Anyone with moderate computer science experience (provided in the mandatory Computer A course) will be able to master the materials of this course. The aim is to go beyond the basics of procedural programming and explore how we can use the data structures built into Python such as lists, dictionaries and tuples to perform increasingly complex data analysis. Examples of problems faced could be the estimation of Pi with statistical methods or the solution of linear systems. This course will also introduce students (who have already acquired the basics of the SQL language in Informatica A) the use of libraries to interact with a database and libraries for the visualization of basic data.
