The initiative is focused on the participation of a PoliMI team at the Indyautonomouschallenge (https://www.indyautonomouschallenge.com/), a unique competition, recently started, that will end on October 23rd, 2021, with a race at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.The competition is entirely focused on the development of the control algorithm (and the corresponding SW implementing it) for the fully-autonomous driver of racing vehicles. The vehicles will be made available by the organizers, including sensors, actuators, computational units; the vehicles are identical; the only difference will be in the control algorithm/SW.The global control system should solve at best numerous and complex issues like:

• Vehicle dynamics control algorithms at the limit of performance
• Estimation of critical variables (slip, sideslip, grip, etc.)
• Localization and perception using "ego" sensors
• Trajectory-planning in a highly-dynamic environment
• High-level race-strategy
• Implementation/optimization of the SW in real-time on the on-board computing systems

The competition is in two stages

• Stage 1 (qualifying): fully in simulation (end on February 2021)
• Stage 2: real race on real cars (final race: October 23rd, 2021)

The PoliMOVE team is one of the about 30 teams worldwide that will compete in this challenge
