Description of the initiative

Milano Arch Week is a week of events and debates on urban transformation and the future of the cities, under the artistic direction of Stefano Boeri.
The festival is promoted by the City of Milan, the Politecnico di Milano and La Triennale di Milano, in collaboration with the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation. It will take place between 21st and 26th May.
Milano Arch Week will again be honored with the presence of great names on the international scene, conversations with young architects, urban planners, landscape designers, opinion leaders; books presentations, installations, workshop and performances.
Milano Arch Week is also music, theatre, guided itineraries of architecture in Milan, and Vesparch, urban tours riding a Vespa. In response to the themes explored by theXXII Triennale Internazionale di Milano Broken Nature: Design takes on Human Survival curated by Paola Antonelli (you can find more detailed information on theonline platform), Milano Arch Week 2019, now at its third edition, will unfold the relationship between Anthropocene and Architecture within and across the urban contexts worldwide.
What does it mean to repair the interrupted relationship with Nature, understood as a complex interweaving of environmental, social, cultural, economic issues, within the current condition of planetary urbanization?
Through a polyphony of voices across the fields of architecture, arts, philosophy, science, engineering, Milano Arch Week 2019 will investigate cities and architecture as systems of flows and networks; cities and architecture as integrated systems of artifice and nature; cities and architecture as places continuously shaped by a 'contemporary plurality' of subjects, individuals, trajectories; cities and architecture as places of material and immaterial production; cities and architecture as places where the human specie has the opportunity to reverse the disastrous effects of climate change.

This call is addressed to students who want to collaborate with the organizational staff in managing the third edition of Milano Arch Week.
