Description of the initiative

The course introduces the students to the most important methods for the numerical computation of electromagnetic fields under quasi-static approximation. Typical applications of the presented methods can be found in electrical, electronics and biomedical engineering, e.g. electric machines, transformers, transmission lines, power cables, nondestructive testing, induction heating, electric and magnetic stimulation, biomedical instrumentation, particle accelerators, electromagnetic sensors, etc…
Contents are the following:
  • Formulations for quasi-stationary electromagnetic problems
  • The Method of Moments (MoM)
  • The Boundary Element Method (BEM)
  • The Finite Element Method (FEM)
  • The Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method
The methods will be presented by means of Matlab codes and electromagnetic software.
