Description of the initiative
The activity proposes a field trip to the city of Lecce, object of joint urban planning and design activities between three urban planning laboratories within the Master's Degrees in Architecture and Urban Design and Urban Planning and Policy Design: Urban Planning Laboratory (ADU - section B) led by Arturo Lanzani and Cristina Renzoni; Urban Planning Laboratory (ADU - section C) led by Francesco Curci and Christian Novak; Urban Planning and Design for Transition Studio (UPPD - section A) led by Francesco Curci and Stefano Salata.
The field trip will be aimed at investigating the city of Lecce and its territory through individual and collective explorations with the intention of increasing the ability to observe and critically interpret the socio-spatial phenomena and environmental issues that characterize the observed contexts. Fieldwork will allow groups of students to test themselves in front of concrete places and problems, interacting with local stakeholders and actors who will contribute to enrich the work program, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecce.
The activity will be divided into two main moments:
1) a public seminar (Saturday, Oct. 8, Lecce, Officine Cantelmo, 4-7 p.m.) to be attended by local administrators, scholars and experts, dedicated to the tools of government of the city of Lecce, urban transformations observed in a historical-critical perspective; on-going socio-economic dynamics;
2) on-site visits divided into several days that will explore the different contexts analyzed within the work of the three workshops: marine and peri-urban (Oct. 7-8, in English); historic center and walls (Oct. 9-10); neighborhoods (Oct. 9-10).
