Description of the initiative

Aim of the course:
The aim of the Course is to apply modern computer-aided methods (CAD and CAM) focused on the use of a 4 axis device (Charly4U). In order to analyse and understand the different strategies for the tool path creation and postprocessing.
Topics in the CAM module:

General features:

  • Roughing
  • Parallel roughing
  • Finishing strategy
  • Automatic finishing strategy
  • Milling with the C axis
  • Milling with the Y axis
Milling with 4 axis (simultaneous):

  • 4X finishing
  • 4X finishing zig-zag
  • 4X finishing contour
  • 4X finishing spiral and radial
  • 4X finishing projected
Each team will deliver a physical and functional prototype by using CAM, CNC and Rapid Prototyping techniques.
