Description of the initiative

The initiative is the result of a three-year BIP-Erasmus exchange program between the Peter Behrens School in Düsseldorf /ref. Prof. Birgit Frank), ULB - Université Libre de Bruxelles (ref. Prof. Hubert Lionnez) and Politecnico di Milano (ref. Prof. Michele Caja).
The initiative includes both physical mobility and online activities.
The programme for the current year (2022) includes a Study Trip to Brussels and some other centres in Belgium, coordinated by Prof. Lionnez.
Students from the three schools will participate in the trip.
The objective of the study trip is to offer foreign students a unique vision of Belgian architectural production in Flanders (Kortrijk) / Wallonia (Charleroi or Mons)/Brussels.
To support the trip, a concise guide to the works visited will be drawn up by the local students involved.
This will enable the students to deal with the architectural themes and issues arising from the visits in an easy way.
During this period the students will have the opportunity to visit both historical contexts and new projects of local firms realised or in progress, with particular reference to the theme of reuse and reconversion, thanks also to the involvement of experts (lectures).
From a methodological point of view, the initiative is based on the physical experience of the urban and architectural features of the places visited.
The trip will be complemented by a seminar part, which will include reflection and critical analysis of the case studies considered.
