MILANO ARCH WEEK 2022/23

Waiting for Peripheries

The 26 and 27 September will see the return of Milano Arch Week, an event dedicated to architecture, urban transformations and the future of cities which was founded in 2017 and organised by the Municipality of Milan, the Politecnico di Milano and Triennale Milano: two days of lectures and panel discussions are planned as a preview of the fifth edition which will be held in spring 2023.

With artistic direction by Stefano Boeri, President of Triennale Milano, the 2022 preview and 2023 edition will be curated by Nina Bassoli, Triennale Milano curator for Architecture, urban regeneration and the city, and by Matteo Ruta, a professor at the Politecnico di Milano.

Two important figures in international architecture will feature at the event in September: Anne Lacaton, founder of Lacaton & Vassal Architectes, Pritzker Prize 2021, will speak at the Politecnico di Milano on the opening day; Anna Heringer, winner of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2007 and the 2020 Obel Award, will give a lecture at the Triennale on Tuesday 27 September.

Waiting for Peripheries is presented as a moment for acknowledging the city’s social and cultural energies, aiming to begin a collective reflection on the topic of peripheries, which will come to fruition at the next edition of the event.

27 September in particular is intended as an opportunity for dialogue with the city's various institutions and neighbourhoods, engaging local businesses and initiatives and sharing the multi-centred, complex and vibrant nature of Milan.  A competition will be launched as part of September’s two-day event with the aim of gathering proposals and initiatives to be included in the 2023 event programme.

Admission is free for all of the events
The lectures by Anne Lacaton and Anna Heringer will be given in English. Places must be reserved in advance and are subject to availability
