Politecnico first in Italy in the QS Graduate Employability
9th in Europe and 43rd overall in the world ranking for employability after graduating
Politecnico di Milano ranks first among Italian universities in the QS Graduate Employability 2022, the ranking which assesses the employability of students graduated from institutions across the globe. Globally, we rank ninth in Europe and 43rd in the world.
The QS Graduate Employability ranking involves about 680 universities worldwide, including 14 in Italy. The parameters considered are five: "Employer reputation" (the universities with the "best" graduates according to companies); "Alumni outcomes" (alumni with the most successful careers); "Partnership with employers" (companies with which the university produces research publications and partners of the university for placements and internships); "Employer-student connections" (relationship between companies present in the university during the year to meet students and the number of students); "Graduate Employment Rate" (the number of graduates employed 12 months after graduation).
The performance of the Politecnico di Milano is particularly strong in the employment indicator and in the partnerships with companies: in both indicators, our university exceeds 95 points out of 100.
Rector Ferruccio Resta commented on the result:
We are proud of it because education is our first mission. The value and quality of our graduates is a prerequisite condition for our university.
These results are possible by integrating more and more training and profession. We have networked the Politecnico and the labour market. And then there are the Assessment Center, the specialized Career Days. What is certain is that the university can be prepared for the national and international challenges of the world of work if it is increasingly linked to the business world.
For the future, Resta traces a road punctuated by three stages: to resume an international path which has been mutilated by 18 months of great restrictions, doing it through a network of international universities; to strengthen the labour market that today is also represented by the ability of our graduates to create business, because youth entrepreneurship is an opportunity that a few years ago was not there; to understand what are the great changes and transformations taking place.
We are putting on a very big plan in Europe, and in view of that plan we must ask ourselves what will be the labour market that we will have in front of us, what skills are needed and what the role of the university will be. I am thinking of energy and digital, which are innate in our university, but also of a greater contamination of knowledge.
