GIRLS@POLIMI 2020/2021: call for applications
13 new corporate scholarships provide equal opportunities for Politecnico female students
The new campaign to collect donations for GIRLS@POLIMI has been successfully concluded: it is a project of Politecnico di Milano that addresses companies to invite them to donate scholarships to support female engineering students. The initiative is one of the concrete actions implemented by the University to promote inclusion and equal gender opportunities, as part of the POP – Pari Opportunità Politecniche (Politecnico Equal Opportunities) strategic programme and aims to increase the number of female students enrolled in STEM programmes.
This year there are four donors, three companies, Intesa Sanpaolo and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, Snam, Boston Consulting Group and a private donor, who have joined by donating a total of 13 scholarships to as many female students. Each student will receive a scholarship of 8,000 euros per year to support her studies at the Politecnico (8 scholarships thanks to Intesa Sanpaolo and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, 3 scholarships thanks to Snam, 1 scholarship thanks to Boston Consulting Group, 1 scholarship thanks to a private donor).
In particular, the Girls@Polimi scholarships are dedicated to those enrolling for this academic year in the 14 Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) programmes and 20 Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science) programmes in Engineering, which today still have a low number of female students enrolled (less than 35%). The participation of companies and private donors is also aimed at involving society in a perspective of social responsibility towards diversity and inclusion issues.
