Corporate scholarships provide equal opportunities for Politecnico female students

Under POP – Pari Opportunità Politecniche (Politecnico Equal Opportunities), which is a strategic programme aimed at guaranteeing a study and work environment that respects and values diversity, Politecnico di Milano has launched GIRLS@POLIMI and invited companies to donate scholarships to support female engineering students during their first years of study.

Scholarships for female students enrolled in Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) courses, particularly those who enrol in engineering courses which have fewer women (less than 20%).

In the Politecnico di Milano Gender Budget first published in 2019, it emerged that gender equality was achieved only for design (61%) and architecture (57.8%) courses, while for engineering courses female students represent only 22.7%.

The Boston Consulting Group and Deloitte Foundation accepted the invitation and donated a scholarship to two students enrolled for the first time in one of the following Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) courses: Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Computer Engineering.

GIRLS@POLIMI is only one of the practical actions implemented by the university to promote gender inclusion and equal opportunities.
