“Alternative Finance MOOC” is online
A free course offered by Politecnico di Milano to learn about the world of alternative finance and about Fintech
Politecnico di Milano launches “Alternative Finance MOOC”, the online 3-week course, entirely free of charge, designed to help participants navigate the world of alternative finance and of Fintech.
Types of funding, the ultimate alternative to bank lending, such as crowdfunding, peer-to-peer-lending, mini-bonds, venture capital, business angels and other solutions, have evolved considerably in Europe in recent years, becoming a key funding source for entrepreneurs, SMEs and start-ups.
The emergence of Fintech, namely new digital technologies applied to finance, implies that such tools will be further strengthened, becoming crucial for corporate finance during the next decade.
The course mainly addresses financial and corporate consultants, fund managers, incubators and crowdfunding platforms, business angels and venture capitalists. It is also potentially useful for both entrepreneurs and start-uppers, individual investors and lawmakers. This self-learning course is based on video lectures (in English, with parallel transcriptions) and discussions with lecturers in dedicated chat rooms that can be accessed from remote.
The course has been developed by Politecnico di Milano and by the Manchester University, within the framework of project ALTFINATOR funded by the European Commission.
Besides the MOOC, the ALTFINATOR project also includes a number of complementary services and initiatives launched to support alternative finance. An interactive matchmaking map stands out among them all, proposed for SMEs/start-ups that wish to link up with alternative finance operators based in Europe, identifying the one that best suits their financial needs.
