QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020 confirms once again Politecnico di Milano among the top 20 universities in the world, in the category "Engineering & Technology".
We underline the excellent result in Architecture – where we get to 7th place from the already excellent 11th place of last year – and the exceptional 6th place in Design, constant since 2019.
A detailed analysis of the Engineering area let us notice that we are specially growing in Chemical Engineering (34th in the world, 44th in 2019), Electrical & Electronic Engineering (17th, as compared to 23rd in 2019), while Civil & Structural Engineering reconfirms its 7th place.
In Italy, Politecnico confirms its first place both in Engineering (in each sector considered by QS: Computer Science & Information Systems; Chemical Engineering; Civil & Structural Engineering; Electrical & Electronic Engineering; Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering) and in Architecture and Design.
The excellent international showing rewards the university’s commitment to confirm itself as magnet attracting students, researchers and qualified professors from all over the world. In such an extremely competitive category as that of “Engineering & Technology”, Politecnico di Milano is slowly approaching the top 10 spots in the world dominated by realities of the calibre of MIT, Stanford and Cambridge and the fiercely competitive technological hubs of the Far East.
QS World University Rankings is one of the most widely quoted and influential rankings of international universities, mainly designed for future foreign students and published annually.
To produce the 2020 ranking, QS took into account 1.222 universities, analysing 48 subjects divided into 5 macro areas.
