How to apply for a student visa

The process for applying for a new student visa is done through the Universitaly portal. Non-EU citizens living abroad who are accepted to our Bachelor degree programmes must create an account on Universitaly and submit their visa application.

Politecnico di Milano will confirm your name to the Italian Diplomatic Representative via the Universitaly platform only if you pass the entrance test and are eligible for enrolment on your chosen programme.

Deadlines to apply for a student visa for the 2024/2025 a.y.:

  • You have taken an alternative test in 2023 or anEnglish TOLC-I in 2023 in your penultimate year of school: apply for a student visa by May 2;
  • You have taken an English TOLC-I in 2024 in your last year of school: apply for a student visa by June 6;
  • You are registered to a TOL, TOLD or Urban Planning entrance test: apply for a student visa by June 20;
  • You are registered or are planning to register to ARCHED entrance test: deadline to be defined

IMPORTANT: to obtain the validation of your visa application, you must upload in your Online Services (Laurea (equivalent to a Bachelor of Science) and five-year single-cycle programmes: entrance or recovery tests and enrolment > Enrolment documents) your final diploma, if obtained (alternatively, you must upload an enrolment certificate), accompanied by an official translation if not available in English, French or Spanish, plus the detailed grades of the last two years of school accompanied by an official translation if necessary, within the same deadlines foreseen for the visa application.

For those registered to a TOL, TOLD, ARCHED or Urban Planning test, the possibility of taking such test is subject to the visa application submitted on universitaly website, along with the uploading of the above-mentioned documents in the OnLine Services.

Classes will be held in presence. The deadline for obtaining a student visa is 29 November 2024.

If your visa is denied or not issued by the above date, you will not be allowed to continue with your studies. In this case, you will be refunded the amount of the first instalment paid.
