Publication of the rankings

The score achieved by each candidate in the entrance exam will be published in the days immediately following the conclusion of each exam session.

You will only be included in the ranking if you have achieved a score equal to or higher than the 60.00/100.

There are two enrolment phases.

  • First phase of standard enrolment: with two rolling rankings
  • Second phase of residual enrolment: with one ranking list
If places are still available at the end of the first standard enrolment period, they will be announced and an update will take place. From that moment, it will be possible to register for the new ranking.

You can only apply for a place  only if you did not enrol in the early enrolment  and only if you obtained a score in the exam equal to or greater than 60.00/100 (rounded to the nearest whole number).

The position of the candidates within each ranking is based on the score and available places in each window.

In the ranking, students are identified by their 'External' identification number. To find out your External identification number, log in to the Online Services and use the link in the top right-hand corner 'Change Current ID'.

THE MINIMUM THRESHOLD IS: 60,00/100

The Urban Planning exam foresees a maximum score of 100 points, distributed as follows:

  • Motivational letter: up to 20 points
  • Essay: up to 30 points
  • Interview: up to 50 points

Assessment criteria

The assessment criteria will be: linguistic accuracy and fluency; relevance; clarity; logical and argumentative ability; critical ability, originality and intellectual energy.

In the event of a tie in the overall scores in the entrance exam, the scores obtained by the candidates in each section will be weighted in the following order, from most to least important: the interview, the essay; the motivation letter. In the event of a further tie, the youngest student will be ranked higher.

For Urban Planning study programmes, the English OFA are assigned automatically to all freshmen or to those students who are coming to the Politecnico di Milano

The Politecnico will organise an online English language test session (TENG) around October, and students will be notified via email (registration is free and students can register via the Online Services).
