MSc in Telecommunication Engineering
The Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering provides the tools to understand and address the rapidly evolving needs of the world of information transfer and communications technologies. In addition to traditional skills in software and hardware design and development, Telecommunications Engineers are professionals capable of generating innovation through a comprehensive understanding of systems for acquisition, processing, transmission, and sharing of information. The program prepares engineers with a multidisciplinary background who can master the various methodologies for designing and implementing information transfer systems.
Admission to the program is reserved for students with a bachelor's degree or equivalent university qualification, with adequate preparation in the core disciplines characterizing Information Engineering.
For students with a degree in Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, admission is based on criteria defined in the Academic Regulations, which take into account the student's educational background and curricular requirements.
For students with a degree in Engineering from other Italian universities, applications for admission are evaluated by a special Committee based on their previous academic career and curricular requirements.
Complete details on entry requirements are available in point 6 of the Programme Regulations
Students with a foreign qualification equivalent to a bachelor's degree may apply, if deemed suitable by the Master's Degree Programme Board.
Application for admission is evaluated by a special Commission based on previous studies and curricular requirements..
Full details on admission requirements are available in point 6 of the Programme Regulations.
The Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering offers theoretical, technical, and practical training to model and manage complex telecommunications systems. It prepares engineers capable of understanding, designing, implementing, optimizing, and using the most advanced technologies developed in the telecommunications sector. The program aims to train engineers capable of formulating and solving complex problems in the four macro-areas of telecommunication engineering, i.e., signal processing, information transmission, telecommunications networks, and applied electromagnetics. To guide students and facilitate the compilation of their Study Plan, five Pre-Approved Study Plans (PSPA) are proposed which refer to the macro-areas mentioned above.
The provided training allows new engineers to work in interdisciplinary design contexts with a strong focus on technological innovation. The program includes both methodological and applied courses. Methodological courses provide basic theoretical tools in both the core areas of telecommunications engineering. Application courses provide in-depth expertise in specific technologies in their respective fields.
