Withdrawal from studies
Academic year 2021/2022
If you have decided to permanently withdraw from your university studies, you should file a withdrawal request. Withdrawal is final.
Students enrolled in the first year A.Y. 2021/2022
- If you are a student enrolled in the first semester of a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science or single course in the A.Y. 2021/2022
- or a student enrolled in the second semester of a Master of Science or single course in the A.Y. 2021/2022
and you wish to withdraw from studies, you should file a withdrawal request by the deadlines. The withdrawal request entitles you to the reimbursement of the first instalment.
The refund of the first instalment will not be full but will be decreased by 16.00€.
You may file the withdrawal request after the above deadlines, but in this case you cannot apply for reimbursement of the first instalment paid. The payment of the second instalment is compulsory if you withdraw from studies after the beginning of the 2nd semester (21 February 2022).
Attention: if you are a student enrolled in single courses, you are required to pay the second instalment in any case (even if you apply for withdrawal before the start of the 2nd semester).
Students enrolled in years subsequent the first
If you are a student enrolled in years subsequent the first willing to withdraw from studies, you can apply at any time of the academic year you have to be up to date with all the payments until the academic year 2020/2021 included.
Students who have already paid the 1st instalment 2021/2022 CAN NOT APPLY FOR ANY REIMBURSEMENT and, if they withdraw from studies after the beginning of the 2nd semester (21 February 2022), they must be up to date with the payment of the second instalment 2021/2022.
Attention: if you are a student enrolled in single courses, you are required to pay the second instalment in any case (even if you apply for withdrawal before the start of the 2nd semester)
How to apply
To waive your student status, enter Online Services > Exit, follow the application procedure. This is complete by paying the revenue stamp or any outstanding tuition fees.
The revenue stamp and any outstanding tuition fees payment is necessary to complete the application, and can be made after submission, choosing between immediate prepaid credit card payment or subsequent home banking payment.
Attention: the request of withdrawal from studies will be taken over by the Registrar's Office which will carry out the necessary checks for acceptance and final registration, In the meantime, please note that it is possible to SELF-CERTIFY that you have submitted your application online if it is necessary to access other universities.
Students enrolled in A.Y. 2021/2022 in the 1st semester of a Laurea (equivalent to a Bachelor of Science) or a Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to a Master of Science) Programme or of Individual Courses who file a request by 15 November 2021 will receive the reimbursementapproximately by the month of March of the following calendar year.
Students enrolled in A.Y. 2021/2022 in the 2nd semester of a Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to a Master of Science) Programme or of Individual Courses who file a request by 20 april 2022 will receive the reimbursement approximately by the month of September of the same calendar year.
If you have withdrawn from university and subsequently decide to resume your studies, you will have to follow the procedure envisaged for students who enroll for the first time. After waiving the student status, the re-enrolment procedures are described in the Poliorientami website. The relevant Study Programme Board is responsible for recognising any acquired credits, after checking their validity.
If you are foreign students already enrolled at an Italian university withdrawn from studies and want to registrer again at the same or another university, you can not use the specific residence permit issued on the occasion of your previous registration. The formalization of withdrawal from studies determines the loss of the requisites for residence in the territory of the State and, consequently, the revocation of the authorization (see Article 5, paragraph 3, 4 and 5 of the legislative decree 25th July 1998 n. 286 "Testo unico delle disposizioni concernenti la disciplina dell'immigrazione e norme sulla condizione dello straniero" and subsequent amendments). You will have to ask for a new student visa.
