TRANSFERRING TO LAUREA STUDY PROGRAMMES IN DESIGN

Academic Year 2022/2023

The Design School of the Politecnico di Milano has approved to limit the number of admissions for transfers.

The limited admissions for each Laurea Study Programme:

If you are a student already enrolled at the Politecnico di Milano and you wish to transfer from:

  • a Design School study programme to a new Design School study programme
  • an Auic-Arch School or Engineering School to a Design School study programme

you must ask for the transfer by accessing the  Online Services - link "single cycle Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science): course transfers and admission after previous career".

You can specify up to 3 Laurea study programmes for which to apply for an evaluation of your previous career. For each evaluation request, you will be required to pay € 60,00. The fee is non-refundable.

You may transfer to the new course:

  • By taking the Design entrance test.
  • Competing in the merit ranking list. Students from AUIC-Arch and Engineering Schools must have at least 30 ECTS from their previous career in order to be included in the limited number of available places. For more information on the procedure, modalities and documentation, the guide updated to the a.y. 2022/2023 will be published soon

Notes for all students

The study programme transfer can only be requested before the beginning of the academic year, according to specific procedures.
Any student applying for a study programme transfer will find, in the new study programme, the English OFAs that may not have been recovered before the transfer: in this case, the English OFAs must be completed within the academic year in which the transfer took place; otherwise, it will not be possible to add new courses to the study plan.
Even if the study plan (submitted after the conclusion of the transfer procedure) is complete with all the ECTS required for graduation, admission to the final exam is not allowed until the English OFA has been completed. 

DEADLINES AND PROCEDURE TO REQUEST THE EVALUATION OF A STUDENT’S PREVIOUS CAREER

DEADLINES

Apply for an evaluation of your previous career between 16th May and 28th July 2022 via our Online Services clicking on "single cycle Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science): course transfers after previous career".

All career evaluations submitted by 28th July 2022 will be automatically used to define the merit ranking list.

If you have not submitted an evaluation request by 28th July 2022, it will not be possible to use your application to define the merit ranking list.

After 28th July 2022, or if you do not enter the ranking, you must sign up for the placement test of the standard session by by 23th August 2022 and your transfer will be accepted only if you pass the Design test and are included in the ranking lists according to the various registration periods. Any previous career can only be assessed by submitting an application to the School.

The ranking list will be published on the School of Design website on 3th August 2022.

OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

With your personal code and password you can access the Online Services and select "single cycle Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science): course transfers after previous career".
You can specify up to 3 study programmes for which to apply for an evaluation of your previous career. It is a very simple and intuitive procedure. Follow the screens and carefully read the instructions shown on each page. The application will ask you to declare if you want your previous career to be evaluated.

You can indicate up to 3 Degree Courses for which to request the evaluation of your previous career. For each evaluation request you will be asked to pay € 60.00. The fee is non-refundable. When the payment arrives at the Politecnico di Milano it will no longer be possible to modify the evaluation request as it will be sent to the commission.

If you declare that you "want the evaluation"

This means that your previous career will be evaluated and the result may imply that certain courses could be recognised.
As a student enrolled at the Politecnico, you will see your entire previous career displayed on your screen.
Please remember to state, among the exams that have not yet been passed, which ones you are going to take after the submission date of the application for career evaluation; you can do that by using the + button next to the course. In case of non-selection, you cannot take any exam of the study programme of origin in exam dates after the submission date of application.


If you have undeclared careers at other Universities and you would like the exams taken in that educational career to be validated, you may ask for this in the evaluation request procedure by clicking on "edit/add titles" providing the University data and that of the Laurea study programme by manually adding the data relating to the exams passed as mentioned above.

Click on the "confirm" button to complete the career evaluation application and proceed with the payment. 

This operation must be carried out for each new study programme for which you apply for admission. If you request for an evaluation of three different study programmes, you must carry out this procedure three times, by clicking on the "New request" button.

You must access your application again and check your status and the result of your evaluation request. Once you receive the result, you must: reject the evaluation result / accept the evaluation result.

If you have accepted the result of the career evaluation, the exams of the study programme of origin that have obtained OPTIONAL VALIDATION (see optional validation column YES and related validated exam) can be taken in the exam dates provided by the academic calendar even after the date of acceptance of the request for career evaluation. If passed, they will be validated; if not passed, they will become New Attendances in the new study programme.

Evaluations can have different management times. By accepting an evaluation the others will be invalidated. We suggest that you wait for the results of all evaluations before accepting one.

If you have been included in the merit ranking list, you will be able to accept and change by 15 September 2022 and make the payment of the installment within the deadlinese set for the years after your admission year, by downloading the IUV Payment form via the Online Services > Tuition fees > Last unpaid request, valid as registration to the A.Y. 2022/2023.

If you have not been included in the merit ranking list or you have not submitted a request to transfer by 28th July, the transfer will be allowed only if you pass the Design entrance test and if you are included in the ranking lists according to the various registration periods.
You will be able to register for the admission test of the standard session by 23 August 2022.

If you have taken the Design admission test and entered the early stage rankings or the standard stage rankings, proceed to pass the course respecting the deadlines of the enrollment periods of each ranking.
You will be able to pay your first installment A.A. 2022/2023 by 15 September as required for those enrolled in years subsequent to the first, by downloading the IUV Payment slip by accessing the Online Services> University fees> last request not paid, valid as registration for the A.Y. 2022/2023.

If you declare that you "do not want the evaluation"

You are declaring that you do not want the exams of your previous career to be recognised. This choice cannot be changed at a later date. In this case, the only chance to transfer is to pass the Design entrance test and be included in the ranking lists according to the different registration periods. Application for the standard session of the Design entrance test will close on 23 July 2022.

If you have entered the early stage ranking or the standard stage ranking, proceed to make the transition respecting the deadlines of the enrollment periods of each ranking.
You will be able to pay your first installment A.A. 2022/2023 by 15 September as required for those enrolled in years subsequent to the first, by downloading the IUV Payment slip by accessing the Online Services> University fees> last request not paid, valid as registration for the A.Y. 2022/2023.
