Descrizione dell'iniziativa
The Passion in Action takes the form of an intensive design workshop aimed at the ideation and production of inclusive books, understood as cultural, educational, and relational tools. The workshop is part of the Polisocial Award project “IN BIBLIO con CHIARA – INclusivity and LIBRARIES for a Culture that Invites, Brings Together, Regenerates, and Activates”, funded by Politecnico di Milano. The initiative is embedded within the research and public engagement activities of the IN BIBLIO project, which aims to promote reading as an accessible and shared experience for children and young people with linguistic, cognitive, sensory, and socio-cultural vulnerabilities. The main objective of the workshop is the design of prototypes of inclusive books (physical and/or hybrid), conceived according to the principles of design for all and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), capable of: * overcoming linguistic and cognitive barriers;* stimulating a multisensory reading experience;* fostering relationships among children, families, educators, and practitioners;* being used both in library and educational settings and in laboratory-based and community outreach activities. The activity will be structured in an initial phase of research and analysis of case studies (accessible books, tactile books, game-books, three-dimensional books, silent books, inclusive publishing), followed by the ideation of editorial concepts, the development of graphic-narrative projects, and the partial or complete prototyping of the books. The work will take place through preliminary meetings at Politecnico di Milano and moments of engagement with the real-world context of IN BIBLIO, in dialogue with researchers, educators, and practitioners involved in the project, adopting a co-design approach and field-based experimentation. The outcomes of the workshop will be presented publicly during Milano Civil Week (7–10 May 2026) and may serve as a foundation for subsequent implementations and developments of the IN BIBLIO project.
