Descrizione dell'iniziativa
On the occasion of the International Mountain Day 2025, the Mountain Short Film Festival Milano CORTALP "Alpine Short Films," now in its fourth edition, curated by Aldo Faleri (artistic director) and Roberto Boni with Francesco Zurlo, professors and Dean of the School of Design, together with the Italian Alpine Club, will be held on December 11 in Milan. Organized by the ALPI+MILANO aps Association, the festival organizer, a themed film competition titled "Manlio Armellini" has been announced. All Politecnico students are invited to create videos on Mountain themes and their relationship with Design, Architecture, Graphics, and Communication, in every aspect (environment, nature, ecology, energy, culture, tradition, lifestyle, food, sports, safety, tourism, and economy), with particular attention to innovative and sustainable proposals in the above areas. The competition calls for original works, real or fictional, that must "tell" the story of the mountain, which finds in its history, culture, and traditions the bridges toward the future for its survival and for new generations. The three CATEGORIES of short films to be produced for the "Manlio Armellini" Prize competition are: A) Sport and Innovation: direct or indirect testimonies of sports practices in the Mountain on snow, ice, rock, rivers, and air; memories of recreational or professional experiences, from recent past or distant times. These are stories of industrial and artisanal products that, through technological innovation and/or local tradition, become essential elements of the success of alpine region excellences and their conscious and sustainable use of their territories.
B) Culture and Communication: videos that tell the culture and communication of the High Lands, as a useful tool for promotion, invitation to visit and know them. These are "advertising spots" to support local economies, work and/or recreation, heritage of millenary traditions and cultures, an invitation to responsible tourism for users/visitors and mountain inhabitants to know and live together towards their future;
C) Landscape and Environment: stories of transformation and regeneration of the alpine environment's design, its tangible and intangible elements in the collective imagination, its uniqueness and beauty, which must be subject to the highest and most conscious environmental sustainability.
The 2025 edition also celebrates the Year of Glacier Preservation and has created a special award "Snow&Ice" for the best video on the theme of high-altitude transformations, their conservation, winter sports, safety, and the magical allure of snowy landscapes. The competition is open to original VIDEO PROJECTS created by students of Politecnico di Milano, including Territorial Campuses (with priority given to students of the School of Design). Each student can participate individually or in a group (up to 3 students from Politecnico, even from different Schools) and with a maximum of one work per category.
