Politecnico at LEAP-RE Forum in Kigali, Rwanda
Boosting strategic collaboration between Europe and Africa in renewable energies
The second LEAP-RE Stakeholder Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, concluded with remarkable success. The event was enriched by the active participation of three researchers from the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano: Emanuela Colombo, Riccardo Mereu, and Nicolò Stevanato. Their presence significantly contributed to the international dialogue on innovation in the field of renewable energies.
During the forum, crucial themes were addressed, including the partnership for Climate Change and Sustainable Energy, along with the AU-EU Innovation Agenda. Additionally, a wide range of new projects was presented in the LEAP-RE Portfolio, spanning from agrivoltaic solutions to green hydrogen and the digitization of mini- and micro-grids.
The event also offered workshops and thematic sessions focusing on topics such as geothermal energy, mini-grids and local energy systems, modelling of energy systems, and business models for decentralized renewable energies. Furthermore, a visit to the Anne Heyman Solar Fields site was organized, a solar plant playing an active role in the energy transition in Rwanda.
The active participation and dedication of our researchers further enriched and enhanced this international forum. They proved the crucial value of global collaboration in promoting research and innovation in the field of renewable energies.
