The Polimi students' basketball selection returns with a first and a second place from the expedition to the 8th edition of the World InterUniversity Championship which took place in Paris from 1 to 5 November with 75 participating universities.
Our students triumphed in the 3vs3 basketball championship which saw the participation of 16 university representatives, totalling six wins out of six, meeting first the Swiss of University of St.Gallen, the Germans of Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and the Slovaks of Comenius University of Bratislava in the group stage; then KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, American University in Cairo and Vilnius University, respectively in the quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals.
In the 5vs5 competition with 24 universities, after a very balanced group with Galatasaray University, Vilnius University and Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne, our team qualified for the next round as the best third. And after three victories against Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in the round of 16, NABA in the quarterfinals and Vilnius University in the semifinals, they were defeated in the final by the Croatians of the University of Zadar - Sveučilište u Zadru, losing by a narrow margin 40 to 43.
