Bovisa Candiani Library and Historical Archives in a new guise

Inaugurated the new spaces, which integrate historical memory and daily life

Bovisa Candiani Library and HistoricalArchives reopen in a new guise and with new features: dynamic activities, collaborative study stations and a new newspaper library to be discovered.

In the new configuration, the spaces of the Historical Archives, which preserve the historical and cultural memory of Politecnico di Milano, are deeply intertwined with the environments of the daily life of the students who attend the library. Through openings that favour contamination between the two environments, students will be able to admire the temporary exhibitions of our heritage – such as the Steiner Archive or the Ghianda Archive – thanks to Archivi in Mostra.

The library has been profoundly renovated, with an improved layout of the Reading Rooms. The new Periodical Room is characterized by its wooden furnishings: round tables for three or four people, which create a sort of living area, where they can freely consult books and magazines.

A small terrace has also been created, where students can sit, read and study informally. The new reception area is now equipped with an open counter that significantly improves its usability.

The interventions are completed by the extension of the Materioteca and the creation of a Café Area.

The Bovisa Candiani Library is open from Monday to Friday, from 8.30 to 20.45. The Historical Archives are open from Monday to Friday, from 9.30 to 13.00. Access must be booked by appointment, by writing to archivio(at)polimi.it, and is allowed to Green Pass holders.
