Nanjing Southeast University delegation visits the Politecnico
Student exchange agreement signed by the two Schools of Architecture
A delegation from the School of Architecture of the Nanjing Southeast University visited the Politecnico di Milano, meeting a delegation of our own School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering to sign a new student exchange agreement.
The Southeast University’s School of Architecture was the first to be established in China (1902) and is ranked among the top schools in the nation.
The deputy rector Emilio Faroldi chaired the meeting and told of the traditions, challenges and of the Politecnico’s vision; the vice president of the Southeast University, Ding Hui, presented his own University; the coordinators Laura Pezzetti and Bao Li introduced the reasons and common objectives which brought about this close cooperation; the principal dean Ilaria Valente and vice president Bao Li expanded on the organisational structure of their schools; the head of the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering, Stefano Della Torre, illustrated the research directions currently conducted by the departments.
During the meeting, the vice president Ding also proposed a demonstrative research collaboration be initiated, in coordination with their Institute for Architecture, Design and Research, represented by Ge Airong, regarding issues tied to the protection and improvement of shared heritage and to the revitalisation and redign of the urban fabric.
Our guests were also able to visit the inspirational Historical Library, a library which has been opened to the public in 2018 with the aim to preserve and give value to the Politecnico’s most ancient and precious literary heritage.
