Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Risk
The research line Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Risk aims to investigate earthquake effects on existing and new buildings, geotechnical structures and lifelines. The activities fall into eight major areas: hazard and vulnerability; steel and timber structures; seismic behaviour of RC walls; precast concrete structures; seismic displacement-based design and assessment of bridges; energy absorbers for the seismic protection of new and existing structures; macroscale mechanistic modelling of structured materials; and soil improvement, geotechnical rehabilitation works of underground structures and earthquake effects.
