The research line “Architecture and Urban design” is focussed upon the new challenges which are proposed by the deep change which is occurring in the contemporary urban landscape. The transition from cities to metropolis to vast urban regions poses to the disciplines of architecture and urban design new problems of interpretation of spatial relationships and new demands of intervention. The research groups develop different approaches to the design of the new significant elements of contemporary city: infrastructures, great services, museums, open spaces, new patterns of inhabiting in the territory, architecture of mobility, etc. The research line is composed of 5 groups: - Architecture, landscape and environmental systems design - Scales and measures of the contemporary city - Architecture and urban design - Integrated design: architecture, historical heritage, landscape - Generative design.
