Regional, urban and environmental planning

The Research line “Regional, urban and environmental planning” is focussed upon planning tools at different scales and with different perspectives. The various research groups are concerned with the process innovation in the mainstream tradition of planning: - the evolution from a unique urban general plan to a plan which is divided into a structural dimension and a more regulatory one; - the emergence of new planning fields like environmental planning, retail and services planning; - the consequent necessity to enhance the evaluation activity of public administration; - the participatory approach; - the legal implication of planning innovations; - the need of a thick interpretation of territorial context as a pre-condition to innovate planning activity. The overall perspective is that of sustainable development which has various declinations according to different group orientation. The research line is organized in 6 groups: - Methods and techniques in urban planning and projects - A contemporary planning - Urbanism and retail management - Urban simulation, strategic planning, projects evaluation - Regional/urban planning and design, Public/urban/environmental law 9 - Ecological design of human settlements.
