Aerodynamics and Fluid Mechanics
This research line includes all the research activities carried out in the broad field of fundamental and applied fluid mechanics. Both numerical and experimental approaches have been pursued with a problem-oriented attitude. Distinctive subjects which have been studied during the assessment period include: turbulence, super- and hyper-sonic jets, real gas effects, instability and bluff body aerodynamics, helicopter aerodynamics and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A significant amount of applied experimental work has been carried out in the large scale Wind Tunnel facility of Politecnico di Milano, as well as in other smaller facilities of the Department.
