Biomimetic engineering and micro-nanotechnology
This research line is structured into four research topics. Namely, the molecular and cellular engineering research area, which is mainly focused on investigations related to DNA, proteins, surface functionalisation and bioartificial (hybrid) interfaces; the biomaterials research area is about the development of new materials for biomedical applications such as polyurethane and hydrogels; the tissue engineering research area deals with the technology (scaffolds, bioreactors, sensors) related to the in vitro conditioning of engineered tissues; bioelectronic interfaces research area is about neuronal culture on chips for the exploration of neural response to external stimuli.
