The research line is oriented to the basic and technological aspects of applied thermodynamics. More specifically it includes the skills on thermodynamic analysis of energy processes, heat transfer and applied thermal-fluid dynamics, applied thermal engineering and refrigeration technique. The research line is organized in two groups: 1 Single Phase and Multiphase Thermal Fluid-dynamics: Current research aims at supplying basic knowledge and operating tools for modeling thermal-fluid dynamic processes included phase-transitions and two-phase flows. These basic studies are performed by means of numerical methods and primarily of advanced experimental techniques. 2 Applied Thermal Engineering: For an accurate evaluation of heat transfer rate of complex systems, the group is mainly focused on the experimental approach. The group is responsible for assuring the European traceability for heating appliances thermal output.
