Methods and Tools for Product Design

The research line Methods and Tools for Product Design is organized in two research topics: PLM-Product Lifecycle Management and Virtual Prototyping. The research topic on PLM is coordinated by prof. U. Cugini and comprises eight permanent researchers actively working on topics related to process modelling, engineering knowledge management, product innovation methods, systematic innovation principles and methods, topology optimization systems, and process and data interoperability issues. The research topic on Virtual Prototyping is coordinated by prof. M. Bordegoni and comprises nine permanent researchers actively working on topics related to physics-based modelling and simulation, virtual prototyping for functional and ergonomics product validation, haptic interfaces and interaction, Reverse Engineering.
