Products and industrial processes

For some years now, the traditional subjects of engineering and architecture have integrated with design, as a practical technique that oversees the design and optimisation of industrial products. It is by no coincidence, in fact, that Milan is internationally recognised as the ‘design capital’. The evolution of the type of products we are seeing in the era of this ‘information society’ benefits from the articulated laboratory system of the products and design area as a valid instrument for research, experimentation, prototyping and representation. Research into materials and technologies are mainly covered by the departments of Chemistry and Mechanics and in the laboratory of Surface fibre characterisation, of the Como Pole. Activities related to prototyping are developed in the Departments of Industrial Design (INDACO) and Mechanics.
