For more than thirty years, Bioengineering has played a driving role at the Politecnico di Milano. It enhances the sciences that have always been part of the Universitys cultural baggage, with research work and new operative situations that can greatly impact individual health and the health services. Research subjects: development and design of new technologies and instruments for diagnostics and therapeutic treatment of the patient; computer-assisted surgery; monitoring of the effects caused by specific rehabilitation treatments; processing of biological signals and bio-images; biomaterials and biomechanics; design of prosthesis elements and monitoring their mechanical and functional efficiency; design of artificial organs and life support; tissue and cell engineering; micro and nano technologies; home automation; ergonomics and design of domestic and hospital environments and sanitary products; safety and management of the hospital and its laboratories.
