Environment

In its broadest definition, environmental protection includes all aspects in relation to all factors of natural and anthropic origin, and is now a shared value. An integral part of many different subjects covered by the Politecnico di Milano, it has been welcomed and encouraged here for an evolution in line with that determined by the European Community and internationally. Indeed, from an initial approach that essentially focussed on the control of processes and materials to limit the polluting emissions of plants and production and to offset risks of significant industrial accidents, a view has now been reached whereby the environment is seen not only as an asset to be protected, but as a strategic resource and development engine. Intense research activity has ensued from this evolution involving skills and resources on many different fronts and the development of experimental work.
