Enviromental Chemical Technology
Research focus
The Peer review has evaluated this group as Average
The object of the research was the optimisation of water purification processes and waste management. Innovations, both chemical and engineering, have been suggested and applied. Process changes have been designed to reduce environmental impact and to produce new materials. The studies on odours have been applied to the analysis of processes devoted to pollutants and process maintenance. In the field of the material research, due to the relevance of the organic coatings which is growing in the field of surface protection, the possibility to get new and modern products have been persecuted. Particular performances are obtained by the understanding of the chemical and physical interactions among the numerous components of the coating or paint (polymer, solvent, pigment, extenders, and additives). The group performed several studies by collaborate strictly with company research centres. The field of additives (polymeric surfactants and water reducers) has been studied: the design of new products and processes for their production have been analysed and demonstrated at a pilot plant scale.
