The main topics are: I) Direct methods in calculus of variations; II) Variational problems with multiple scales. The underlying mathematical models are connected with continuum mechanics, image segmentation, material science and convex optimization. The focus is on the following goals: (i) analysis of free discontinuity problems: regularity of weak solutions, Euler equations and cracktip analysis; (ii) dimension reduction in continuum mechanics; (iii) variational models of damage, plasticity and crack; (iv) homogeneization and optimal shape analysis with GMT techniques; (vi) slicing, semicontinuity and compactness in SBV, SBD and SBH spaces; (vii) mass transport; (viii) concentration of Ginzburg-Landau energies with supercritical growth; (ix) game theory: generic well posedness in optimization problems; (x) duality and linear programming.
